Bernard Schurr Organic Côtes du Rhône Villages 2017
Bernard produces small parcels of exceptional hand-crafted wines that showcase the region and the vintage from some of France’s most classic wine-making regions.
The barren plains of the Plan de Dieu (God’s Plain) have a winemaking heritage dating back to the fourteenth century. Deep pebble beds result in rich and powerfully flavoured wines. Organically grown fruit is hand harvested before a traditional vinification using small open fermenters and maturation in two to three year old large format oak for nine months. Bottled without fining and minimal addition of sulphides.
This is a lovely wine of brightness, lifted fruit and plenty of drive but finishing savoury and long.
